July 4th Celebrations

(This is a condensed version of the Harborfest Website.)

Tuesday, July 2: Parade of Lights & Fireworks on the Harbor
Brightly-lit boats of all shapes and sizes form a sparkling parade around the Inner Harbor and Seaport waterfront at 8:30pm, followed by dazzling fireworks lighting up the sky at 9pm. Enjoy the views along the Downtown Waterfront, Seaport and East Boston shore.

Thursday, July 4: Concert & Fireworks
8:00pm - Boston Pops Concert begins. This is effectively impossible to get into, and, in my opinion, not worth trying. However, speakers should be playing the music along the river.

10:30pm - Fireworks launched from 7 barges in the middle of the Charles River. The show lasts about 20 minutes and concludes at 11pm. Anywhere with a view of the river (probably including many of your dorm rooms) will have a great view of the fireworks. Note that locations along the Charles River have strict requirements on what can and cannot be brought in (e.g., no backpacks).

Thursday, July 4: Freedom Trail Walk into History Tours
From 10:15am - 6pm on July 1-4, you can join daily tours along the Freedom Trail led by costumed guides. Tours leave on the hour every hour from the Boston Common Visitor Information Center (139 Tremont Street) and last 90 minutes each. Adults $14, Students $12.
